Android Tablet Connection Troubleshooting Guide

This guide outlines the key networking requirements for establishing a reliable connection between the Android tablet and computer. The system is designed to connect automatically — no manual IP configuration is required — as long as the conditions below are met.

1. Confirm Both Devices Are on the Same Network

The computer and tablet must be connected to the same local network.
Avoid:

  • Using different Wi-Fi bands (e.g., tablet on Guest Wi-Fi, PC on Main Wi-Fi)
  • Using separate VLANs or isolated SSIDs
  • Using mobile hotspots unless both devices are connected to the same one

2. Verify Port 8080 is Available

The software communicates through port 8080.

  • Ensure no other applications (e.g., web servers, proxy tools) are already using this port.
  • If needed, stop or reconfigure conflicting programs.

3. Allow Network Traffic Through Firewalls/Antivirus

Firewalls and security software must permit traffic on port 8080.

  • Add an exception for the application and port 8080 (TCP).
  • Some antivirus products may block local broadcasts; temporarily disable or adjust settings if discovery fails.

4. Check Router Settings for Local Discovery

The tablet relies on local broadcast/multicast traffic to find the computer.

  • Make sure your router does not block multicast, broadcast, or device discovery protocols.
  • Avoid “AP Isolation” or “Client Isolation” modes, which prevent devices from talking to each other.

5. Verify the Correct Network Interface Is Active

If the computer has multiple active network connections (e.g., Wi-Fi and Ethernet):

  • Confirm the device intended for communication is enabled and prioritized.
  • Disable unused interfaces if necessary to avoid routing confusion.

6. Ensure a Stable Network Connection

Unstable connections may cause intermittent communication.

  • Use a strong Wi-Fi signal or wired Ethernet where possible.
  • Avoid networks with high congestion or frequent dropouts.

7. Adjust Power Saving Settings on the Tablet

Some tablets aggressively disable Wi-Fi to save battery.

  • Disable power-saving modes that pause Wi-Fi during sleep.
  • In Android Wi-Fi settings, set “Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep” to Always.
  • Exclude the app from battery optimization if connection loss occurs.

Automatic Connection

Once all of the above conditions are satisfied, the tablet will:

  • Automatically detect the computer
  • Connect through port 8080
  • Require no manual IP entry or pairing

If the connection still fails after confirming these settings, restart both devices and try again.
